As well as a variety of countryside and river walks being on hand, there are many wonderful attractions for the whole family within a short driving distance (such as the Steam Trains you can see go past the dining room window, Pennywell farm, the No1 animal attraction in Devon, The River Dart Country Park, the letter box trails on Dartmoor, or the popular beach resorts of Torbay and the beautiful South Devon coastline).

Our local shop, the famous Riveford Organic Farm shop, has the most tempting array of goodies on offer, and most of them delicious and healthy. A place for everyday shopping as well as yummy treats.

We are located within five minutes walk of the South Devon Steiner School

Don’t miss the Cultural centre of the Dartington Estate with its Gardens, Great Hall, Theatre, Cinema and excellent restaurant. Or the much visited Dartington Cider Press Centre with its wide variety of country crafts on show and daily children’s entertainment. They are a mile or so away.

Only a little further lies the historical market town of Totnes. Totnes has been called the “alternative centre” of England with its organic restaurants and its interesting and unusual range of shops. The alternative culture in Totnes is very broad ranging, seeming to have representatives of nearly every complementary therapy or healing art under the sun.
There is much to discover, close by and further afield. The wonderful location and the comfort and relaxing atmosphere of the garden and chalet make it an ideal place for a quiet getaway.

The Chalet

Situated in a secluded garden with it’s own entrance from the Devon lane and adjacent the open countryside, the timber chalet has an unusual and beautiful design, with stained glass, interestingly shaped windows, wooden floors and walls in natural oil finish.
Sitting comfortably in the large lounge/diner, looking over the Dart valley towards Dartmoor and at Hood Ball (one of the local hills, an ancient volcanic plug), visitors report feeling touched by a sense of relaxation and peace.
The rest of the accommodation comprises: a galley style kitchen, a bathroom with a lovely shower and a double and a twin bedroom.
There is a small library specialised in Holistic lifestyle books ( with a children and teenage section too), a children's play area and a good selection of games.

Enquiries welcome for the Cottage over the summer;
The Chalet is on hold for a while, pending a change of planning.
